IN an effort to boost cohesion, joint team training sessions have begun in Uganda’s World University cross-country preparations.

The 20 athletes forming the Ugandan squad had until recently been training at their respective universities.

They now converge at one venue on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday’s to get tips from a team of coaches led by Faustino Kiwa.

“It will be two weeks to the competition that the team will finally gather for a high altitude residential camp in Bukwo,” explained team official Patrick Ssebuliba.

Ssebuliba, who heads the world meet’s secretariat in Uganda, said the joint sessions that will be starting at 10am will be held at Makerere Main ground, Kyambogo Cricket oval and at the athletics ground and in Bukwo.

The squad will shortly before the event be trimmed to seven women and eight men.

The event will be held at the Entebbe golf course on March 22.

Women:
Winnie Nannyondo, Halima Nakayi, Annet Negesa, Margaret Lubago, Prim Twikirize, Annet Chebet, Lillian Anzazi and Stella Akidi.

Men: Joshua Cheptegei Joshua, Martin Chemtingen, Benjamin Njia, Herbert Gidagui, Julius Ocheng, Sam Cherop , Edmund Mukasa, Kennedy Nuwahereza, Issa Kosgei, Kwesiga Ballon and Allan Makweta.
