KCCA couldn’t have asked for better motivation ahead of their away encounter with Nkana Red Devils than an assurance of increased support from their sponsors.

The Lugogo side that leaves for Zambia o Wednesday has been assured of not only total support from Kampala Capital City Authority, but also more funding from other corporate bodies.

The urge to excel was as result almost palpable as coach George Nsimbe’s side started residential training at Namboole on Saturday, days after KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi promised more support.

A jovial Musisi during a chat with the team before it kicked Sudanese giants El Merreikh from the CAF Champions League, said financing the club was one of the their priorities.

“My job is to release money. That’s why your salary is always on time. Football is amongst our priorities because of the good mileage it gives us,” said Musisi.

Musisi, who also praised KCCA’s volleyball side, urged the football team to reciprocate by advancing on the continent.

“I would rather cut money from elsewhere to ensure that your salaries are paid,” she told the cheering footballers.

To underline her support she gave each of the players $100 (sh245,800) and the officials $150 (sh368,700) as her personal reward.

“You all remember what the director said. Let’s not disappoint her. All we have to do, is play our part by winning our games and the sky will be the limit,” Nsimbe told his players as they entered camp at Namboole.

To further boost the club’s financial might, Musisi said they are working on corporate partnerships.

Key among KCCA’s plans is improvement on the club’s stadium at Lugogo to be able to host international matches.

Musisi has also promised the team what she described as the best bus in the country.

“The bus has actually already been secured. We are working on a few modifications, you should have it anytime,” she said.

The offers however follow a history of a poor financial history at Lugogo. Stories of players being defrauded of their salaries by team officials were common.

On Saturday, KCCA beat Kamwoya United 3-0 to qualify for the round of 32 in the Uganda Cup.

Meanwhile, Zambian sports minister Chishimba Kambwili has asked the Zambian football association (FAZ) to attach Chipolopolo goalkeeper trainer Davies Phiri to the Nkana team.

Kambwili watched Nkana register a 5-2 aggregate win over Mbabane Swallows but was disturbed with the quality of goalkeeping and defending.
