While officiating at the ceremony, the education minister Jessica Alupo said government will give Kyambogo sh70b out of the sh290b loan acquired from the African Development Bank.

The money will be used to improve infrastructure and train staff.

“Government is finalizing the acquisition of a loan from the African Development Bank to improve infrastructure, equipment and staff training.

Kyambogo University is expected to receive UGX70billion” Alupo said.

She nevertheless warned the University’s authorities against misusing the money once it is given to Kyambogo, saying she will not rest until it is put to the intended use.

In recent years, Kyambogo has been cited as a breeding ground for mismanagement and fraud. Gen. Elly Tumwine also graced the ceremony.

Thursday witnessed new Kyambogo University Chancellor Prof John Ssebuwufu presiding over his first graduation.
