Lukwago case in Kabale court flops again

The trial of three opposition politicians accused of inciting violence in Kabale town has again failed to take off before the Kabale chief magistrate’s court.

The trial of three opposition politicians accused of inciting violence in Kabale town has again failed to take off before the Kabale chief magistrate’s court.

 
The accused are: Ingrid Turinawe, the FDC women league chairperson, Erias Lukwago, the desposed Kampala Lord Mayor and Kawempe Division Mayor Mubarak Munyagwa.

The suspects were expected to appear in Kabale today Tuesday for hearing of their case.
 
However, the trial could not kick off following the absence of the chief magistrate and the state attorney.

The two judicial officers who have been handling the case were transferred.
 
Grade II Magistrate’s court in Kabale adjourned the case untill the two judicial officers are replaced.
 
Prosecution alleges that on July 14, 2012 while at a rally at Kabale Municipal stadium, the trio incited the public against policemen on duty leading to the destruction of police vehicles and the injuring four cops.
