EAC, S. Sudan presidents to meet in Uganda

Uganda will this week be hosting the 4th Northern Corridor Integration Projects Summit in Kampala on February 20.

Uganda will this week be hosting the 4th Northern Corridor Integration Projects Summit in Kampala on February 20, a meeting aimed at improving the business environment in the region.

According to a press statement from the foreign affairs ministry, the main focus will be to share the developments on the projects being fast-tracked and propose the best way forward.

The heads of state for the Northern Corridor countries of Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan will be participating in the summit. Also invited is the United Republic of Tanzania as a member of the EAC.

The summit will be preceded by a meeting of senior officials on February 18 and of ministers on February 19.

During the meetings, reports will be presented on the achievements registered in the various sectors since the last summit in Kigali on October 20 last year. The heads of state will also consider establishing a regional force for combating crimes.
