THE Friday Night Lights (FNL) were put out before they were even switched on for the tournament tip-off last week.
The organisers can confirm that was a temporary setback and that the fourth season of the popular pre-season basketball event will open today at the YMCA.
“We had to cancel due to unavoidable circumstances,” said FNL official Phillip Kyomuhendo yesterday.
“But we are on tomorrow and we will compensate for it.”
Coincidentally, FNL’s tip-off is happening on Valentine ’s Day, setting up a romantic medley of love and basketball that could make the YMCA an even warmer hot spot than anyone envisaged.
Besides the thrilling menu of basketball action, four games are on card tonight; there will be an exciting cocktail of prize-giving challenges, including three new ones that should excite the spectators.
The Rwenzori Treasure Hunt Challenge, KCB Shoot for Cash Challenge and the Castle Lite Mystery Box Challenge have been put in the mix, all with the single purpose of coming up with different ways to spread the rewards.
In the same vein, organisers have decided to introduce a consolation prize for the loser of every contest (sh200,000), with the victor getting (sh400,000).
It is all intended to curb the ultra-competitive spirit that has sometimes made the games too aggressive.
