A section of National Resistance Movement  (NRM) youth league has backed a resolution by the NRM caucus endorsing party chairman Yoweri Museveni as a presidential candidate for 2016 general elections.

According to Wakiso Distrct NRM youth chairperson, Joseph Ssewava, President Museveni is still energetic to take Uganda to another level given his love for peace.

“To us Museveni was God given, and if he died today, his spirit would haunt down any one who destabilizes this country,” said Ssewava.

The MPs currently retreating at the National leadership institute (NALI) Kyankwanzi , in a motion moved by Northern Uganda MP Evelyn Anite unanimously , resolved that President Museveni represents’ the party in the pending 2016 general elections.

Addressing lawmakers during deliberations on the resolutions contained in a motion that MPs signed at Kyankwanzi, Museveni said that he “welcomed” the decision by party members but assured the enthusiastic stalwarts that the final decision lies in the hands of the delegates conference.

“I welcome your resolution in the context of calming down confusion. Of course the decision as to who becomes a Presidential candidate is done by the National Conference of which you are members,” he told MPs.

The President further said that what pre-occupies his mind right now is the need to work on the roads and also stamp out corruption.
