FUFA president Moses Magogo has pledged to involve Ex-internationals in the management of soccer as one of the ways to promote the game.

Magogo was reacting to the concerns the ex-internationals presented to him during the meeting held at Ivy hotel in Wakaliga on Wednesday.

The former Cranes stars pointed out the lack of coaching opportunities, poor communication, non-involvement in FUFA activities, representation in the Assembly, and recognition in the football establishment by the Federation.

“There are plans such as coaching courses which will ensure that ex-stars become knowledgeable and in the end this improves on the future standards of the game”, Magogo stated.

Magogo also noted that FUFA is about to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with various schools of excellence to expand the game at the grassroots and that is where their services will be needed mostly in schools where they don’t have qualified coaches.

Magogo further added that such meetings with different groups of stakeholders helps the federation to share various issues which have a lot to offer to football in the country.

He urged ex-internationals to always be involved in football administration as this can be one of the means for their contribution in the federation’s activities.

Patrick Ntege, Issa Sekatawa, Mathias Kawesa, Friday Senyonjo, Hebert Nsubuga, Shaka Okello, Ashe Mukasa, Godfrey Nyola, and Paul Mukatabala among others attended the meeting.

Magogo has held various meetings with stakeholders including referees, regional chairmen and Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA).

Magogo also plans to interface with other stakeholders such as, Uganda Cranes Ambassadors, Uganda Youth Football, various football competitions organizers who include, Copa Coca Cola, University Football League, Masaza, Bika among others to ensure that there is team work in the promotion of the sport.
