FUFA has suspended their only FIFA referees’ instructor Haruna Kebba indefinitely. Kebba’s suspension is due to his roles as a referees’ instructor and coach of FUFA Super League club Kira Young.

While announcing the decision, FUFA Super League (FSL) committee boss and vice president technical Mujib Kasule said that Kebba’s decision to serve as both coach and referees’ instructor contravened FIFA statutes.

“FIFA statutes stipulate that you are either a coach or in line of refereeing and not both. Referees fear to take some decisions against his club (Kira Young) because he is their boss. Other clubs think his club is favoured by referees because he is their boss,” Kasule said at the FUFA press conference at Mengo today.

Kebba said that he would quit the coaching duty if FUFA offered him a salaried job at its secretariat.

FUFA met Kebba over the same conflict in October and did not conclude on the way forward.

Now his suspension has come a day after Kira Young tamed Proline FC 2-0 in the FUFA Super League on Tuesday.

Over the weekend, Kebba was in the news urging aged referees to retire and give young ones an opportunity to take up their positions.

He was due to conduct a one-week course for FIFA referees and monitors with help of FUFA and FIFA at the Njeru technical centre next month.
