The Anti- Corruption Court has summoned Geoffrey Onegi- Obel, the former NSSF board chairman over the botched Nsimbe Housing Estate deal.
Chief Magistrate Sarah Langa Siu on Friday summoned Onegi - Obel to appear before the court on February14.
"You are hereby commanded by the government of Uganda to appear in court on the 14th February , 2014 at 9:00am or as soon thereafter as the case will be heard," reads the summon in part.
The summon followed the Constitutional Court ruling that recently threw out Onegi- Obel's petition challenging his prosecution and directed the Anti- Corruption Court to resume the trial.
Onegi-Obel is accused of causing a loss of sh8b in the botched Nsimbe Housing Estate deal and abuse of office. He petitioned the Constitutional Court in 2011 challenging his prosecution by the Inspectorate of Government.
Langa issued the summons after Sydney Asubo the director of legal affairs from Inspectorate of Government told court on Friday that the IGG was ready with evidence to prosecute Onegi- Obel.
The IGG said he committed the offences between 2004 and 2005.
