AFTER a year in retirement, 10 times MX1 national motocross champion Arthur Blick Jr has declared his return to active competition this year.

Blick announced his move in a press briefing held at Speedway quick fix Garage in Rubaga at the Launch of the first round of the Mountain Dew Motocross Challenge due February 23 at the Uganda Motorsport Arena (UMA) in Busiika.

“I will compete for the MX1 championship this year with Maxime Van Pee who confirmed his presence, Yasin Bukala and Barak Orland and I will also go for the FIM-Central Africa title,” Blick stated.

He explained that his return is meant to keep the competition high in the sport and give the fans value for their money.

Blick retired at the end of 2012 season after winning his 10th title and concentrated in rallying.

He focused on managing his sons Alistair Blick who later won the 2013 MX 85 cc title and Paddy Blick who emerged third in the MX 65cc category.

Blick will also lead a team of free style riders that include Talha Kiggundu, Fatuh Kiggundu, Ahmed Tamale and Mike Ntairo in a demonstration of what they learnt from South African star Nick De Wit.

“It’s just a demonstration and safety is a priority as we show fans what we have learnt from training and I am confident that free style motocross in Uganda has a bright future,” Blick added.
