Ceaser Okhuti struck in the 22nd minute to keep Vipers in the lead as the FUFA Super League second round kicked-off today.

Okhuti pounced on a loose ball to tap in from a goal-mouth melee after a Nicholas Wadada cross at Vipers’ alternative ground at St Marys Kitende SS.

Proline mainly had their guard on Yunus Kinene and indeed managed to stop him from scoring.

But what was otherwise an entertaining match of fast inter passing attacks by both sides was undermined by a red card.  Referee Ali Kalyanga was left with no option but sendoff defender Ronald Sekubomba for rough play on Julius Okotcha.

It was Vipers’ ninth win. They now have 32 points and maintain the lead in the 16 team race.

Owen Kasule was the star in Lugazi with a brace that helped URA to a win over visiting Masaka. The tax collectors are now in second position with 29 points.

The rest of the day’s matched ended in draws. Tailing CRO secured their third draw in a match where the Mbale did nothing to show that they were the home side. They fell back for almost the entire game.

At Nakivubo Dan Wagaluka gave Soana the lead but SC Villa clawed its way back to equalize through Ronald Muganga.

In Entebbe a win remained elusive for the home side as it settled for a draw with Jinja side Bidco. Godfrey Serubogo scored for while the visitors’ score was from Crespo Asiku.

The league takes a two week break to accommodate the Uganda Cup and Orange CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup. The continental encounters involve KCC and Sports Club Victoria University that have return legs next weekend.
