In a bid to ease unemployment, among Ugandan graduates, Digital opportunity trust Uganda (DOT) has started recruiting graduates to fill up internship positions for skills and use of technology.
According to the communications officer Dot –Uganda Sandra Nassali, the offer is targeting young graduates between the age of 18-29 who are tech-savvy, enthusiastic and dynamic youth with an interest in social enterprises, community leadership and technology for development.
“Dot –Uganda is implementing the Reach –Up program which focuses on workforce readiness and entrepreneurship skills development for young people,” said Nassali.
Nassali added that the program dubbed Reach UP emphasizes 21st Century workforce readiness, skills and use of technology to unlock creative capacity using the “train the trainer” model.
She noted that Reach Up! will give interns the opportunity to train program participants in the same Reach Up! Curriculum, engage with communities and cause real change in the locations where they will be based.
Reach up is an entreneurship program that integrates Technology, business, and life skills and micro-enterprises development in Kampala, Mukono and Mpigi districts.
The program seeks to help participants develop knowledge, skills, and plans that improve their chances of economic self-reliance and livelihood success.
Nassali explained that the program is targeting youth with post-secondary education with no work experience. The internship program runs for one year.
“After doing internship with us we connect them to different cooperate organizations for employment,” she said.
Dot Uganda equips young people (college and university graduates) with the necessary life copying skills to foster their personal and career development and to enhance their contribution to community and national development through its youth –led programs.
