THE World rugby governing body (IRB) has chosen Kenya as the host of the 2014 Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) Women’s 7s tournament due in April.

Kenya replaces Morocco who failed to host the event as earlier scheduled due to logistical problems.

IRB General Manager for Africa, Jean-Luc Barthez confirmed this at the ongoing IRB Leading Africa Seminar in Cape Town, South Africa.

“Owing to logistical challenges stemming from hosting it in Morocco, Kenya offered to host the event and the Confederation of African Rugby accepted their offer," Barthez confirmed the development.

The event originally scheduled for March will now be played in April in Machakos and will feature eight teams including South Africa, Tunisia, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Namibia.

Meanwhile, Lady Rugby Cranes centre Aisha Nakityo sustained a neck injury during training at Kyadondo Rugby club in Lugogo.

According to team coach Anthony Kinene, Nakityo will on Wednesday undergo a scan to evaluate the injury.

“I have not yet lost hope but I will take a decision after the doctor’s recommendation,” Kinene stated.
