AG Nyombi disruptor charged with being a nuisance

The activist who disrupted Attorney General Peter Nyombi  last Friday as he delivered his speech at the High Court in Kampala, during the opening  of the new law year, has been charged with being  a nuisance.

Andrew Karamagi  was on Monday charged by Buganda Road Court  Grade One Magistrate, Simon Kintu Zirintuusa.

"You are charged with common nuisance contrary to section 160(1) of the Penal Code Act," Zirintuusa stated.

Karamagi denied the charges. He is represented by lawyers Abdu Katuntu and Asuman Basalirwa.

He was released on a cash bail of sh1m.

His sureties, Western Youth MP Gerald Karuhanga, Penlope Sanyu and Godfrey Tumushabe, were bonded at sh60m (not cash).

The prosecutor, Nelly Asiku, informed court that the Director of Public Prosecutions, had completed investigations into the case.

Hearing of the case will commence on March 6, 2014.
