Kabale man infects minor with HIV

A thirty-old man accused of defiling a nine-year-old girl infecting her with HIV is in police custody in Kabale district.

A thirty-old man accused of defiling a nine-year-old girl infecting her with HIV is in police custody in Kabale district.

The suspect Godfrey Rukiroru, a resident of Kigarama cell, Kijuguta ward in Kabale town is alleged to have committed the offence in December last year.
 
The suspect’s arrest followed testing of the girl recently at Kabale Referral hospital.  She was found HIV positive according to the report from Dr. Placid Mehayo, the Hospital Director. When the both her parents were tested, they were HIV negative.

The victim told the authorities that she had been defiled by Rukiroru.

Rukiroru's name was later found in the admission forms of ART Clinic at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital as an enrolled patient on anti-retro-viral drugs (ARVS).

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson said the suspect now faced charges of aggravated defilement and infecting the minor with HIV-AIDS.
