Youth conference opens in Kampala

Over 700 youth from different parts of the country are attending the Uganda Youth forum conference which opened today (Tuesday) in Kampala at UMA show ground Lugogo.

Over 700 youth from different parts of the country are attending the Uganda Youth forum conference which opened today (Tuesday) in Kampala at UMA show ground Lugogo.
 
The conference was graced by the Irish ambassador to Uganda. His Excellency, Donal Cronin. He presided over the opening of the forum under the theme: An HIV/AIDS free generation: my responsibility.

It will be closed by President Yoweri Museveni and the first lady Janet Museveni.
 
According to Leonard Imanishimwa, the Uganda youth forum, executive director, over 700 youth from various parts of the country are expected to attend this year’s conference.
 
“This year we are focusing on an HIV free generation, we are challenging young people, leaders, Government officials, cultural and religious leaders to take responsibility in ensuring the realization of an HIV free generation. We believe it is possible if we all work together,” said Imanishimwa.
 
During the conference, the youth will be able to discuss their goals and dreams. They will discuss some of the issues affecting them.

Hon Mary Karoro Okurut, Pius Bigirimana, Prof Nantulya, the chairman of Uganda AIDS commission and Miriam Atengo, from the president’s office are among the guests who will speak to the youth.
 
They will be free HIV testing and cancer screening. Those who are willing will donate blood to the Uganda Blood Bank. The conference is going on for two more days.
