37 year old Benjamin Musoke has quit cricket after a 20 year career in the game.
This comes in the aftermath of a dismissal performance at the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifier in New Zealand where Uganda lost all her games and was relegated to Division 3.
‘I have played my best cricket, I have given the very best for my country, I feel it’s time I leave it for the young blood,” explained Musoke.
Through the years, ‘Benzo’ as he is affectionately known in the cricket circles, has showcased his ability to remain calm under pressure and hold the team’s batting which made him a darling of many Ugandan coaches during his career.
Musoke at the age of 17 decided to switch from playing for the U17 national football team which featured the likes of David Obua, Ibrahim Sekaja and Godfrey Mugisha to play cricket.
Benjamin never imagined his cricket career would span 20 years of running in between the wickets.
Some critics would argue Benzo played the stylish of shots while others would say he was the best fielder in covers and slips.
Last year when he quit the 20 over format during the ICC Africa T20 Division One championship, many thought it wouldn't be long before he called time on his participation in all formats.
