Over 6,000 South Sudanese resettled in Kiryandongo

About 6,535 refugees from South Sudan have been settled at Kiryandongo refugee resettlement camp as fight goes in the newest African State, South Sudan.  

The group started flocking into the country on December 23, 2013 following fighting between government soldiers and rebels led by former Vice President Dr. Riek Machar.
 
United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees is supporting the refugees with some basic needs.

A big number of the refugees are women and children, according to UNHCR officials.

The District Police Commander, Patrick Byaruhanga, expressed concern over the escalating land disputes in the resettlement camp.

He said the Office of the Prime Minister distributed one hectare of land to each head of house hold but they were still wrangling.
