Ashraf Seiko Chemonges has assumed office as the new District Police Commander of Lira. The DPC has pledged to win the trust of the public in the district.

Chemonges takes over from Robert Semata who was transferred to Professional Standards Unit.

Chemonges warned that he will not tolerate misconduct among police officers.

“No police officer from CIID, Traffic or Crime intelligence will be allowed to undermine the force public image,” he said.

There has been a change in the command of police in Lira following spate of unsolved robberies and killings in the district when the business community threatened to demonstrate on the streets.

The DPC vowed to restore the image of the Police force and urged locals to support the police in the execution of their constitutional mandate.
