SMARTING from a humbling defeat to on form D’Mark Kobs in the Nile Special Rugby Premier League, Sadolin Mongers were gracious in defeat — saying the runner-away table leaders are just unstoppable.
“Our pack was overpowered by Kobs and they outplayed us in all aspect of the game. We should admit that no team can stop them this season. They are without doubt going to win the title. We beat Heathens two weeks ago and have played Buffaloes so I know what I am talking about,” Mongers’ senior player Kigongo Ssebalamu admitted.
“Kobs don’t have special players but they are very cohesive as a team and have been mentally strong since the beginning of the league. That’s why they will beat Heathens and Buffaloes again,” Ssebalamu noted.
Kobs now top the league with 48 points, 10 clear of second placed MTN Heathens, while Toyota Buffaloes are a further a point down the table with four matches left.
Kobs path to the title
Kobs who have gone six years without league success, take on Lira Bulls this weekend followed by Ezee Money Rhinos next week. They will then visit Kyadondo Club for what is expected to be an interesting tie against Heathens that could even see them win the title with a game to spare.
Kobs will then wind up the campaign at their Legends ground where they will take on Buffaloes on February 15.
Elsewhere, G4S Pirates’ disastrous season continued when they suffered a 35-13 defeat to Heathens at Legends which leaves them in second position from the bottom.
