Youth should engage in mass production

The youth of Ibanda have been urged to engage in mass production of milk, banana and coffee.

The call was made by the Uganda Investment Authority Chairman Patrick Bitature speaking during the launch of Crane bank branch in Ibanda. He called on the youth to embrace the agricultural loans the commercial banks are offering at 12% interest rate.

The Minister of Works and Transport State Minister Eng. John Byabagambi who was the guest of honour applauded the government on the introduction of agricultural loans to ensure that citizens have working capital.

Byabagambi said; "the youth are now taking on agriculture instead of working on the roads my ministry is constructing; it shows how they are more interested in making their own money."

Bitarure said; " with the milk,meat, Coffee and bananas grown in Ibanda, the youth should be involved in mass production and with the ready market, their lives will be better."

The Managing Director Crane Bank Kalan said that they were offering 14% on deposit on personalized loans in the high category. The Ibanda branch in the 40th and the bank's strategic plan is to open 50 branches by the end of 2014.
