UGANDA Cranes defender Savio Kabugo has been cleared for their Africa Nations Championship match against Zimbabwe on Thursday.

Kabugo was stretchered off in Cranes’ 2-1 win over Burkina Faso on Sunday evening following a nasty tackle on him late in the match.

But team physician Ronald Kisolo has said that medically the whole squad including Kabugo will be available for selection on Thursday.

“The team is in good shape with no casualties. Even Savio Kabugo who had an injury scare during our first game is fit for the next game against Zimbabwe,” Kisolo said.

As Cranes regrouped for the next fixture, coach Micho Sredojevic has asked his players to forget the win against Burkina Faso.

“I have asked the players to refocus on the next game. It will be difficult. We reside at the same hotel (Garden Court Nelson Mandela Boulevard), look over each other and know what to expect. I spent the last night watching over their game against Morocco and will plan accordingly,” coach Micho Sredojevic has said.

A Yunus Sentamu brace gave Uganda Cranes their first ever win in the Africa Nations Championships with a 2-1 over Burkina Faso at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa on Sunday.

Micho revealed how a fortnight ago, 19year old Sentamu had been a doubt for the championship.

“He wasn’t supposed to come with us. He had family problems and I had to convince his family to allow me bring him here. He had a late medical test and his passport was also processed last. I am delighted he is with us here,” Micho said.

Sentamu had also missed the CECAFA tournament in Nairobi writing his Senior Six UNEB exams.
