Luweero Police on Thursday identified the four people who were killed in a crash involving a Bank of Uganda bullion van and a tipper truck at Wobulenzi on the Kampala-Gulu highway.

The Wednesday accident occurred at around 2.30pm local time (EAT) when the truck rammed into the van heading in the opposite direction.

The four people killed were occupants of the truck which was damaged beyond recognition.

Two people, travelling in the bullion van, sustained injuries. They are Isingoma Monica, a resident of Naalya, a Central Bank staff, and Mbabazi Robert, the driver of the green van.

Police identified the dead as Masune Kiwanuka, Ssebyala Samuel, Peter Sebayigga and Godfrey Kakooza Mutale.

DPC Godfrey Ninsiima attributed the crash to reckless driving and overspeeding. He said the truck, loaded with bricks and headed for Kampala, lost control and crashed into the bullion van.
