BOBBY Williamson has turned down the opportunity to take over the reins at Yanga FC.

The Tanzanian club had offered Williamson the job to replace sacked Dutch coach Ernie Brandts after their 3-1 loss to arch-rivals Simba SC in the domestic league.

But our source in Yanga FC said yesterday that, “Williamson had refused to take up the job. He has called me to say that despite a competitive offer at Yanga, he has decided to stay at Gor. Yanga is looking elsewhere now.”

Instead, Williamson has chosen to strengthen his side with yet another Ugandan player in Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito after left back Godfrey Walusimbi joined on a two year contract at Gor Mahia.

Walusimbi and holding midfielder Kizito join Dan Sserunkuuma and Israel Emuge at the club as Williamson seeks to impress during his first ever CAF Champions League campaign that starts next month.

Kizito’s addition from relegated Vietnamese Club Sai Gon, is expected to boost Gor Mahia’s midfield and Williamson says he’s happy to have him on board.

“I have worked with him (Kizito) in the past and I am confident that he will add a lot of value to the team,” Williamson told futaa.com.
