Soldier arrested over murder in Kisoro

The Police in Kisoro are holding a UPDF sergeant over the murder of a barmaid and her housegirl.

Sgt Robert Okiror of the 7th battalion, according to a police source, allegedly used up 30 bullets to shoot the woman, only identified as Maama Derrick, and a 12-year-old girl.

The source said Okiror picked a quarrel with the barmaid after she denied him accommodation for the night. Okiror allegedly went to the army barracks about 100 meters away and is suspected to have returned after midnight and shot the two.

His gun an AK 47 was found hidden in the roof of his hut. Kisoro hospital medical superintendent Dr Michael Baganizi said the bodies were at the hospital mortuary.
