Japan donates to Kitebi to ease access to medical services

Japanese Ambassador to Uganda Junzo Fujita handed over two vehicles to assist the Missionaries of the Poor in their work of helping struggling communities in Uganda.

 “I was deeply touched when I was told that some people lack transport to access treatment in [health] centres provided by government,” said the envoy.

The vehicles will help ease movement of people of Kitebi community in need of medical attention to available health facilities.

It is understood most of the people in the area cannot afford to reach health facilities because they are poor. And the absence of medical attention cost some community members their lives.

The donated vehicles will significantly help mostly the vulnerable people like the elderly, the disabled and children.

“The bus will support the children with disabilities to go to school,” said Fujita.

He mentioned that his government has supported 177 projects in Uganda since 1992.

The ambassador also pointed out that there is significant growth of partnership between his government and African nations by means of the Tokyo International Conference on the African Development (TICAD).

The partnership, he said, is committed to realize quality growth to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Rubaga South MP, Ken Lukyamuzi, was also present.

He thanked the Japanese government for supporting Uganda in sectors of development.
