UGANDA succumbed to a straight sets defeat to Egypt in their second match of the on-going Africa FIVB Zone V World Championships qualifiers at Amahoro Indoor stadium on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Uganda beat Burundi in similar style but could not contain Egypt’s hard service and high blocks as they went down 25-15, 25 22, 25-16.

“Of course technically and tactically, Egypt was better. Our players also got timid. The opponents quickly noticed our weaknesses and exploited them,” Uganda national team coach Anthony Ndaula said.

And despite the result Ndaula looks forward to their clash with hosts Rwanda for a second win in the qualifiers at Amahoro Indoor stadium to sail through to the final stage.

“Now it is important for us to win our next games. We want to go for most especially Rwanda. We believe they are closer to our level than Kenya and we can beat them,” Ndaula emphasised.

Ndaula will however need to spend time before Fridays encounter with Kenya explaining to his players what to do to contain hard serves and manoeuvre through high blocks.

These attributes let Uganda down against Egypt on Thursday.
