A ten-man body building team is set to represent Uganda at the annual Mr. Kericho Body Building Championship due December 1 in Kenya.

The championship is held to commemorate the World Aids day.

Ivan Byekwaso who is captain of the team believes he can replicate the form that saw him winning the overall trophy at the same championship in 2010.

“Due to lack of competition here I think I will face the real challenge in this competition. In Uganda I’m like at University level while my challengers are still in secondary school so let me go and challenge the real men” Byekwaso said during a press conference at which Power Horse director Benjamin Mukasa handed over a sh3m sponsorship package to the team for the trip.

Mubarak Kizito who finished second in the bantamweight category at the same championship last year is also on the team together with the current reigning Mr. Kampala Ben Lukwago.

The rest are Isaac Mubikirwa, Sam Kalema, Ronald Mutebi, Douglas Ssebugwawo, John Nsubuga, Joseph Ssenabulya and Peter Mudhasi

“We decided to sponsor the team as a way of giving back to our customers through sports, despite the short notice but we promise to team up with them in a bigger way next year,” Mukasa stated.

The team that leaves for Kericho on Wednesday is led by acting organizing secretary Fred Munyagwa.
