EC prepares for Lukwago replacement

The Electoral Commission (EC) has embarked on preparations to fill the vacant position of Kampala Lord Mayor that fell vacant following Erias Lukwago’s impeachment on Monday.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has embarked on preparations to fill the vacant position of Kampala Lord Mayor that fell vacant following Erias Lukwago’s impeachment on Monday.


Jonathan Taremwa, the Electoral Commission Spokesperson told New Vision that they received a letter from the KCCA executive director, Jennifer Musisi, notifying them that the seat of the city Lord Mayor is vacant.

“We have received the letter from KCCA and we shall proceed as per the law stipulates,” Taremwa said.

A special KCCA council meeting chaired by Frank Tumwebaze, the Minister for the Presidency and Kampala, impeached Lukwago.
