On Monday, councillors of the Kampala Capital City Authority unanimously voted to impeach their Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, over a number of allegations believed to have been committed by the now former Lord Mayor.

It should be noted that the position of Lord Mayor was created in 2010 after the Eighth Parliament passed the KCCA Act of 2009.

It should also be noted that Erias Lukwago, then a member of this Parliament participated in the passing of the Bill that among other things made the position of Lord Mayor ceremonial.

Below is a Parliament Hansard report of the proceedings of that day.
