IT’S one of those matches that no one would want to miss.

The much awaited tie pits Uganda’s CAF Champions League representatives KCCA against Sports Club Victoria University, who will fly the country’s flag in the Confederations Cup.

With the club continental program still months away, the Kampala derby provides the two giants with one of those local tests that could show how prepared the two sides are for the CAF competitions.

“They (Victoria University) are indeed a good test. They are certainly one of the league’s strongest sides. We respect them but that won’t stop us from going for a win,” said KCCA coach George Nsimbe.

But if statistics are indeed anything to by, then the Lugogo side might have to leave a trail of sweat if they are to get those three points.

The two sides drew twice last season. They met again in the Super Cup where yet another draw was only sorted by a KCCA victory via penalties.

SCVU coach Alex Isabirye is delighted by the return from injury of midfielder Manko Kaweesa and the central defence duo of Denis Iguma and Savio Kabugo.

Kabugo has missed the last two matches while team captain Iguma’s last match was last month’s 2-0 win over Express.

One of Isabirye’s master cards could be presence on his team of people with an insight into KCCA. Simon Okwi and Ceaser Sapeo, who scored in the team’s recent 5-1 victory over Big League side Saints, are former KCCA players just like Isabirye’s assistant Morley Byekwaso.
