Security deployed at the chairman's home

Muhoozi was Wednesday morning found dead in a police cell at the nearby Rwanyamukinya station in Kashozi Sub-County, Sheema District following his arrest for assaulting Samuel Kabaranzi, the chairman LCI.

The angry residents thereafter raided Kabaranzi’s home and slasjed part of his plantation.

Three police officers who were in charge of the station have since been arrested as investigations into the cause of Muhoozi’s death are ongoing.

The incidents have occurred when the DPC Sheema district Ezekiel Emitu is on leave, but Greater Bushenyi Regional Police chief Hillary Kurayigye condemned the residents’ act.

Security has been heavily deployed in the area, specifically at Kabaranzi’s home to stop any further destruction.

Kurayigye said if the three police officers are found guilty, they will be charged in accordance to the law.

Muhoozi is said to have assaulted Samuel, and when Samuel reported the matter to Police, Muhoozi was arrested but agreed to settle the matter out of court by paying Samuel sh300,000 as compensation.

It is however said after a deposit of sh150,000 and failing to clear the balance on the agreed day, police arrested and locked him up but was found dead Wednedsay morning.

The residents now blame the chairmanfor the subsequent death of Muhoozi.

Mourners had already turned up for a vigil at late Muhoozi’s residence awaiting Police directive to go on with the burial.
