The Police at Kira Road in Kampala are holding two Pakistan nationals after they were arrested on allegations of gang rape.

The Pakistanis, Wagas Muhammad and Ahmed Asahapao were arrested on Friday at dawn from their home in Kiwaatule after a 23-year old woman lodged a complaint at the police.

The woman who could hardly walk on her own alleges that five men, all workers of Yuasa Motors Limited, gang raped her several times after tying her to a chair. She stated that the men locked her inside their rented house for close to a month, raping her in turns.

She only managed to escape when they forgot keys at a sink and she reported the matter at a police post.  However, the police released the two men who had been arrested earlier, saying it was mistaken identity.

The Kira Road DPC, Alex Edunyu, said the Police were in the company of the victim when they raided the home where they found six men. She managed to identify two suspects and the three others were still on the run.

The case had attracted public uproar as the Police failed to arrest the culprits since July, until the matter was taken to the deputy CIID director, Moses Musana, who ordered for their immediate arrest.

The men were Friday, together with the victim, taken to the police surgeon in Nsambya for medical examination.

The commander of Kampala Metropolitan Police, Andrew Kaweesi, said investigations into the matter would continue and a hunt for the rest was on.
