Bernard Tungwaho, the newly appointed Toro Kingdom prime minister, is due to hold a grand party to celebrate his appointment on Saturday.

The function will take place at Bunena Primary School grounds in Kiceece sub-county in Kamwenge district.

Tungwaho, was appointed the monarchy’s new premier by Toro’s youthful king Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukiidi IV in June this year.

He replaced Steven Kaliba.

As is tradition in Toro Kingdom, when you are knighted by the king, you have to hold a banquet and celebrate with the king’s people in a ceremony called ‘Kugarra Orukwanzi’ – symbolically as an expression of one’s gratitude to the leader.

According to Kenneth Gusalire, the kingdom spokesperson, Tungwaho will be joined by over 10 ministers from Kitagwenda County in Kamwenge district.

Several guests from other cultural institutions and government are expected to attend.

Tungwaho is the 9th prime minister under King Oyo and the first to be appointed from Kitagwenda County.
