The Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo will be laid with an artificial turf starting next week.


The project estimated to cost sh1.3b at KCCA  Football Club’s home ground, will take six weeks.

KCCA FC chairman Julius Kabugo said Mondday that the equipment for the project is already in the country.

“The equipment was delivered on Monday,” Kabugo stated.

The official added that lights will be installed at the stadium in the final phase of the project.

“We want to have all our league home games played at night,” Kabugo added.

The official said soccer governing body FUFA has already endorsed this plan.

The programme at Lugogo is under the FIFA fourth Goal Project for Uganda through FUFA.

Meanwhile, KCCA FC has acquired 10 acres near in Kitebi on the outskirts of Kampala for construction of
a sports complex.
