Chinese golfer Huang Shouda returned 43 stableford points to emerge winner of the Stanbic Bank-Chinese day Golf Tournament at Kitante on Saturday

Chinese golfer Huang Shouda returned 43 stableford points to emerge winner of the Stanbic Bank-Chinese day Golf Tournament at Kitante on Saturday.


The handicap 19 golfer beat a massive field of over 150 golfers in the one-day event organised to strengthen business and mutual friendship between the Chinese community and their Ugandan counterparts.

Lady UPDF golfer Petra Nalwoga was also in similar form topping the ladies category after carding 36 points.

“When I went out to play I couldn’t imagine myself coming first but I had a good round of golf where almost everything went my way,” Shouda who missed a hole-in-one on No.9, by inches, said after picking his prizes from Chu Maoming, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy in Uganda.

Moses Matsiko beat Solomon Kego on count-back to take the men’s group A, with Gerald Kabuye finishing as second runner up.

Qin Yuanhao, Eridad Mwangusha and Eddy Muzahura were the top players in Group B while Tao Tao Qin, Wu Weiling and Herbert Olowo top scored in Group C.

Lady Captain Katy Kabenge beat another UPDF golfer Evelyn Asiimwe on count-back in the ladies Group A, with Abby Melvin finishing third.

Brenda Ngabo, veteran golfer Alice Kego and Maria Ochieng also got podium finishes in the ladies group B.

Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zhao Yali earlier officially teed off what is set to become an annual tournament.
