UGANDA'S Kyadondo U-19 side up to its billing as they whipped Eastern province of Kenya 39-0 and Rwanda 19-0 in their opening fixtures of the Safaricom 7s tournament at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Friday.

U-19 national team winger Solomon Okias who scored a hat-trick of tries was the main catalyst for the victory while his teammates David Agassi, Stephen Alul, and Moses Ikomba added a try each. 

The Kyadondo side opened up their first game with a 19-0 thumping of Rwanda with Allan Ssetuba and Okias Solomon scoring a try each while Kevin Mukasa Keremundu managed a try and a conversion.

Joseph Oyet also managed a conversion as Kyadondo began the tournament on a winning note.

“We are focused, the weather today is okay and we are ready to go for the title this time,” Coach Robert Sseguya stated after the second game. 

“There is a big improvement in the team performance game by game and I hope that they don’t develop complacence in the remaining games,” he added

Kyadondo face Rift Valley in their next game before closing their group stage games against Nairobi. 

“We are through to the knockout stages but now we just want to lead the pool so that we get a team that is not too strong at the next stage,” Sseguya added. 

Meanwhile Tolbert Onyango charges are ready to hit the groud running on Saturday when the open their campaign against Nakuru before facing Kenyan clubs KCB and close their group stage games against Australia.

“We are ready and we are going to give all our hearts out there to make it to the knock-out stages,” team captain Alfred Bijik stated.

Asuman Mugerwa, Ezekiel Okol, Jasper Ochen, Emma Ecudu, Kieth Sseruyange, Philip Pariyo,Justin Kimono, Ramathan Govule and James Musitwa make up the squad.
