Former national motocross team captain Arthur Blick Jr. has all his focus on the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally later this month August 28-30 in Luweero and Mubende where he expects to seal the National Rally Championship (NRC) title.

Blick disclosed this to New Vision in an interview where he confirmed that he has withdrawn from the Motocross team that is going to compete in the FIM-Africa Motocross Championship in Zimbabwe the same date.

"FMU fixed the Pearl of Africa Rally the same dates with FIM Africa, so I had to choose where to be and I decided Pearl because we are chasing the title," Blick stated.

"Unfortunately I have no choice but to stay and fight to seal the NRC during the Pearl rally," Blick stated.

Blick, who is second on the national motocross championship standing behind team captain Maxime van Pee, is leading the NRC standings with 360 points, 200 ahead of second placed Duncan Mubiru aka. Kikankane.

Motocross team captain Maxime Van Pee told New Vision yesterday that Blick is the pillar of motocross in the country and his absence from the team is a big loss.

"It is a big loss because even though he is not the captain, he inspires all of us riders, helps riders prepare for races especially in such a competition and we shall miss him a lot," Maxime stated.

Meanwhile the Uganda drivers who went for the Rwanda Mt. Gorilla rally finished 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th respectively boosting their morale ahead of the Pearl of Rally.

John Consta finished 4th, Desh Kananura (5th )and Wilbert Pole Pole (6th) in the two day event that was won by Kenya's Jaspreet Chathe to stretch lead on the Africa rally championship standing.
