Museveni picks nomination forms

National Resistance Movement historical and members of the youth leagues are expected to escort national chairman, Gen. President Yoweri Museveni when he turns up to pick his nomination forms from the party''s Electoral Commission (EC) head office on Plot 10 Kyadondo road today.

National Resistance Movement historical and members of the youth leagues are expected to escort national chairman, Gen. President Yoweri Museveni when he turns up to pick his nomination forms  from the party's Electoral Commission (EC) head office on Plot 10 Kyadondo road today.

President Museveni who is expected between 11.00am and 12:00 has already paid shs20m for both party chairmanship and flag bearer.

Today is the last day for members to pick forms expressing interest for the various positions, after which their academic papers will be verified before they are cleared to contest in the primaries.

The EC chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi said he had been informed that former premier, Amama Mbabazi would also pick forms today but he had not yet indicated the time.

He however said he would give priority to Museveni who has already indicated his schedule, adding that he would not allow the two leaders to clash at the venue.

"If Amama Mbabazi chooses to come earlier, then he will have to leave earlier or come after President Museveni but I will not allow them to clash here," he said.

Minister for youth, Evelyn Anite who is famous for her ' Museveni sole candidature' move by the NRM parliamentary caucus picked her forms and said her heart was thumping, praying that no one else picks forms to allow President Museveni go through unopposed.

Anite who wants to contest for the Koboko district woman seat said NRM legislators will also be relieved when Museveni picks nomination forms because they asked him to contest again for the two positions.

Former presidential advisor and loser in the Luwero district woman by-lection, Dr. Lugudde Nabatanzi also picked forms expressing interest to contest for the Buikwe West constituency and national chairperson Women's league.   

Businessman and Malawian consular in Uganda, Dr. Robert Rukaari Mwesigwa wants Entrepreneurship league chair while former Uganda's ambassador to Nigeria, Maurice Kagimu Kiwanuka who is son of former Democratic Party founder, Ben Kiwanuka wants to contest again for the Bukomansimbi South.

Singer Bobi wine's elder brother, Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu wants to represent Kampala Central in parliament.
Prince Mathias Mulumba Ssuuna wants to represent workers in parliament while Hadija Uzeiye picked forms for national chairperson institutions league.

Ronnie Kayigwa is going for the Busiro South constituency.

Charles Sserujongi and Calvin Ojuka Ogwang picked forms for Wakiso and Aleptong district seats respectively. 

Paul Waiswa wants to represent youth in Eastern Uganda in parliament.

The Poor Youth of Uganda national coordinator, Issa Kato wants national vice chairperson youth league while his colleague, Shakur Walusimbi wants to become publicity secretary youth league.

Robert Rutalo wants to become the Secretary General National Youth league.
