The police in the eastern district of Namutumba are holding a 30-year- old traditional healer for allegedly exhuming human remains.

Yunus Mwanja, a resident of Busembatya town council in Iganga district was arrested on Saturday after he was found exhuming human remains in Buwalira village in Ivukula Sub County in Namutumba district.

Charles Wabwire, the Namutumba district police commander, said Mwanja was arrested by residents and handed over to police after he was caught red-handed at the grave exhuming the remains of a man who was buried nine years ago.

“By the time he was arrested, he had exhumed the skull and other bones,” Wabwire said. He added that he will be produced in court as investigations go on.
