Ronald Otile shot 76 gross on day three to take a two-stroke lead in the Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Open at Kitante on Friday.

Despite returning his worst score over the three days of action, Otile is two strokes ahead of the nearest challenger Gideon Kagyenzi  with whom they shared joint leadership after day two.

“It was a bit tough today but I hope to stay calm tomorrow [Saturday], put my head down and play my game and hope for the best,” Otile said.

His undoing was again the back nine where he registered 5 bogeys.

It wasn’t any better for Kagyenzi who is closely keeping chase after he returned six-over-par 78.

But play of the day belonged to Richard Baguma who returned 72 to surge into third place, three strokes off the leader, and another amateur golfer Daniel Basweti who hit a hole-in-one on Hole No.11.

Playing in the subsidiary event, Basweti was in the company of Andrew Kasigwa, Harry Hakiza and Mark Kaddu Mukasa when he achieved the rare feat.

The feat will have him walking away with an assortment of HTC Hub products.

Going by the results posted over the last three days, a play-off might once again determine this year’s winner just like last year when Kitata won a double play-off against Adolf Muhumuza.
