UGANDA Netball Federation (UNF) has felt the need to reduce the number of the She Cranes training days in an attempt to give players enough time to rest.

“Many would think it’s the right time to train endlessly but we felt we felt it should be the opposite,” She Cranes caretaker Ruth Rwakabale said.

It’s just 25 days to the Netball World Cup starting August 7-16 and the team is residing at Materwood Hotel in Namugongo will now train only four days a week at GEMS Cambridge International School in Butabika, Luzira as compared to the earlier seven days.

The team will take a breather on Thursday and Friday and according to Rwakabale the decision was passed with guidance of team Dr. Stephen Ayella in a bid to fight the level of fatigue amongst the players.

“You can’t expect good results from someone who is fatigued, they are ladies and we felt their bodies needed to get some rest and also allow them do some laundry. This will also help their mental ability,” she stated.

Head coach Fred Mugerwa and assistant Vincent Kiwanuka are in charge of the team of 15 players captained by Peace Proscovia.

Others on the team set to represent Uganda after 36 years of waiting include Florence Amono, Hadijah Nakabuye, Rachael Nanyonga, Stella Oyella, Harriet Apako, Halima Nakachwa, Ruth Meeme, Jesca Achan, Susan Atino, Lillian Ajio, Florence Nanyonga, Betty Namukasa, Alice Nanteza and Martha Soigi.
