PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni will today host the Uganda Cranes to a state luncheon.

The function, which will be held at the airbase in Entebbe, will have both the national team of local-based players that beat Tanzania to qualify for the CHAN championships last month and the senior team preparing for the must win World Cup qualifier against Senegal.

“We have just got information that the President wants to have lunch with the national soccer team and we are looking forward to it. We have already told the national soccer federation to forward the names of the players and officials for registration,” the commissioner for sports Omara Apita disclosed yesterday.

The luncheon comes just days after the president met the national athletics team and rewarded Stephen Kiprotich for his golden achievement at the World Athletics Championships.

The Cranes resumed preparations on Sunday by taking part in the Rotary cancer run to measure their fitness levels.
