Church of Uganda retired Archbishop, Dr. Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo has survived an accident, when one of the vehicles in his motorcade overturned, injuring three people.

Dr Nkoyoyo is the head of the committee of 31members in charge of raising over sh6b, to revamp the Anglican martyr’s shrine at Namugongo.

The team had traveled to Mityana diocese, where they met priests at Buwekula archdeaconry and later at Busimbi parish, in Mityana archdieceory.

The accident occurred at Kiganda, about thirty miles from Mubende to Mityana when a Mitsubishi Pajero registration number UAW 278Y, overturned after hitting boda boda cyclist.

Some of the eyewitnesses said that the cyclist, who was later identified as Innocent Ssekanjako was crossing the road yet the Pajero was too close that it could not stop.

By the time the accident occurred, the vehicle of the archbishop had already passed.

Ssekanjako was rushed to Kawungeera Health center, from where he was referred to Mityana hospital but still in critical conditions.

The other two injured who were traveling in the Pajero vehicle were Musa Bulwadda and Dr. Fred Kakeeto. They were rushed to Kampala after the accident.

“We are grateful, we thank God that our brothers have survived, and we are hopeful they improve,” Dr Nkoyoyo said in a brief interview with our reporter.

He said the two meetings in Mityana and Mubende had been held successfully, despite of the accident.

Alex Yeheyo, the traffic officer at Mubende police station confirmed the accident and said they were still investigating the cause.
