Tooro Kingdom eagerly waiting for UMC rally

Tooro Kingdom has also assured the national motorsport governing body of the good hospitality the officials, drivers and fans will receive during that weekend of July 5-7 in Fort Portal.

State minister for tourism, trade and industry in the Kingdom, Anna Bagaya delivered the message at National Council of Sports Lugogo during the launch of UMC Mountain of the Moon Rally slated fro July 5-7.

"We are going to use motorsport to promote tourism in our Kingdom and that is why I was sent here to be part of this launch," Bagaya stated.

"Over 35years we have not had a rally in our kingdom. Our people are anxiously waiting," Bagaya stressed, adding that the Kingdom has already started sensitizing the public on the dangers of the rally cars on different media platforms.

She later had a feel of the rally car with the OiLibya sponsored driver Dr.Ashraf Ahmed in a New Subaru Impreza N14 which he will drive in the event.

The motorsport governing body (FMU) vice President Dusman Okee said that motorsport is all about promotion of tourism in the country.

According to the Clerk of the course Alfred Mutanda, the event will cover 304kms of which 154km will be competitive and 150km will transport section.

Over 20 drivers including Arthur Blick Jr, Dr.Ashraf Ahmed, Suzan Muwonge, Leila Blick, Wycliff Bukenya, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Desh Kananura have confirmed participation.
