The Masaka deputy Resident district Commissioner (RDC), Joseph Ssekasamba was
Tuesday morning found lying unconscious on the floor in a room at Westland Hotel along Bananuka drive in Mbarara town.

Hillary Kurayigye, the Rwizi region Police commander, said Ssekasamba was found lying in a pool of blood.

“We got information from hotel attendant after he saw blooding flowing under the door of the closed room where the Ssekasamba had slept. Police rushed to the scene and forced the door open.  He was unconscious and had bruises on the forehead and was rushed to Mbarara hospital,” Kurayigye explained.

Ssekasamba’s driver and bodyguard recorded statements at police as they waited for their boss to come round.

However Police could not reveal the identities of the bodyguard and the driver.

“It’s good the victim is improving and we are waiting for him to record his statement. His statement is crucial because it will lead us to the attackers and the motive,” Kurayigye added.

Ssekasamba’s driver and bodyguard are reported to have booked him a room at around 11:00pm where he later reported at around 4:00 am.

A source who talked to Ssekasamba in the hospital after he came round told New Vision that while in his room he was hit at the back of the head as he went towards the washrooms.
