Kizito turns pro after winning Gold at World Championships

After winning two gold medals at the International Natural Bodybuilding Association World Bodybuilding Championships in Dubai last week, and consequently turning pro, Mubarak Kizito is focused on even doing better at the Natural Olympia due in the US in November.

After winning two gold medals at the International Natural Bodybuilding Association World Bodybuilding Championships in Dubai last week, and consequently turning pro, Mubarak Kizito is focused on even doing better at the Natural Olympia due in the US in November.


The 27 year old beat two opponents to the Gold in the finals of the 175cm short men competition after he had earlier beaten over 30 opponents to another Gold in the preliminary amateur contest that preceded the finals at the Dubai Sports City Dome.

The Light Weight 67kg muscle man becomes the first Ugandan to win gold in the sport that is run by the Uganda Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (UBBFA).

"I beat tall and big opponents; and it was down to good preparations and I would like to thank Grand Global Hotel and my manager Paul Lukyamuzi who facilitated my travel," the reigning Mr. Kampala said on return.

"I will now only compete in the Mr. Uganda championships since they are national, and concentrate om my professional career," Kizito reamrked.

Meanwhile Ivan Byekwaso has embarked on a fundraising drive to raise over sh60m to enable him compete in the INBA Natural Universe body building championship due in Austin, Texas, in September and the Natural Olympiad in November respectively.

The 31 year old Mr. Uganda and Mr. Kampala record holder, won a silver at the World Championships in Slovakia and a bronze at the INBA Natural Body Building Olympiad in San Diego last year.

"We secured tickets to the Natural Universe but we need sponsorship for the Olympiad and for accommodation and upkeep, feeding as well as for doping test fees and internal travel while in the US," Byekwaso said after a training session at Buziga Country Resort on Wednesday.

Jack Pemba, of sports promotion company Pemba Sports Africa offered air tickets to Byekwaso and his manager Kamal Sabuni.
