In a dramatic twist of events, FUFA has overlooked its domestic referees and appointed Kenyan referees for Tuesday’s Uganda Cup final between KCCA and SC Villa at Namboole Stadium.
The match kicks off 3.30pm.
Odhiambo will be assisted by Otieno Andrew Juma and Tony Mudayi Kidiya. Alex Muhabi will be the 4th official while Mawanda Haruna will be the match assessor and Darius Mugoye-the Match Commissioner.
Odhiambo replaces Ugandan referee Muhabi, who had previously been appointed for the final.
Muhabi, who was dropped as FIFA referee last year, had been selected ahead of the five FIFA centre referees such as Denis Batte, Mashood Ssali, Brian Nsubuga Miiro, Rajab Kalyonkolo Bakasambe and Ali Chelangat Sabilla.
“We confirm the appointment of referees by the Kenya Football Federation for the Uganda cup final tomorrow. Our request was granted and both clubs have welcomed the decision for international referees handle the match,” said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein.
Earlier before the abandoned match in Ntungamo, FIFA referee Brian Nsubuga was dropped for Robert Donney, who later made controversial decisions that saw the game abandoned.
