Appearing before the committee on health on Friday to discuss the ministerial policy statement for the financial year 2013/2014, Ruhakana Rugunda said HIV/AIDS counseling and testing among men and women increased from 23 %( men) and 25 %( women) in 2006 to 45% of men and 66% of women in last financial year.
He said Option B+ policy, which involves giving HIV-positive mothers triple-therapy ARVs as soon as they are diagnosed, and continuing treatment for life regardless of their CD4 count and the plan to eliminate mother- to- child transmission, have been developed and are being rolled out to the whole country.
